Privacy policy
Verðandi · Effective October 30, 2026
Who this covers
Verðandi is a personal-use application with a single user: its owner, Chris Browning. It is not offered to anyone else, and no one else can sign in to it.
What Google data it accesses
Verðandi requests one Google permission: read-only access to the owner's Gmail (gmail.readonly). It cannot send, delete, label, or archive email, and it does not change Gmail settings.
It reads messages only in labels the owner has chosen. Messages in the owner's Work, Security, and Health labels are not sent for processing beyond the sender and label name.
How the data is used
- To decide whether new mail needs the owner's attention.
- To list dated items such as bills, renewals, and deliveries.
- To pull item names and prices from store and price-alert emails.
Results are written as short lines into the owner's private notes on the owner's own server.
Where the data goes
- The owner's server. The access token is stored encrypted. Only message IDs and a sync marker are kept between runs; full messages are not stored.
- Anthropic's API. Message text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to be read and summarized for the owner.
- A push notification service. Phone alerts contain only a count and label names, never message contents.
Data is not sold, not used for advertising, and not shared with anyone else.
Limited Use
Verðandi's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing access
Access can be revoked at any time from Google Account permissions. Once access is revoked, the stored token stops working, and the owner deletes it and the sync state from the server.
